Data Deletion

Use this guide to request complete account deletion or remove subsets of data directly inside Portacode. All deletion options described here only remove data stored on Portacode services. They never touch the original files on your own machines.

1. Account deletion (all data)

If you wish to delete your Portacode account and all associated personal data, email privacy@portacode.com from your registered address with the subject “Delete my Portacode account.” We will verify ownership, then delete your account profile, workspaces, containers, and related usage data within 7 days, except for records we must retain for legal, security, or billing purposes (e.g., invoices, abuse logs). We will confirm once the process is complete.

After account deletion you will need to create a new account if you wish to use Portacode again.

2. Partial data deletion

Portacode lets you independently delete devices, projects, and AI chats. These options are available from the dashboard and take effect immediately. Each action only affects the data stored in Portacode and does not modify the files that live on your machines.

Devices

Deleting a device removes the device entry, every project under that device, and the related logs and AI chats.

  1. On the device, run portacode service uninstall to stop the background service. Do this first for any machine where the service was installed.
  2. In the dashboard, confirm the device card shows the Offline status. Leaving the service running after deletion will cause the remote agent to loop through authentication errors.
  3. Once the card is offline, click the trash/bin icon on the device card and confirm to delete the device plus all nested data.

Projects

Deleting a project removes its Portacode metadata plus every AI chat tied to that project while leaving other projects and devices untouched.

  1. Go to the dashboard and click the Editor button on the relevant device card to open the project search/picker.
  2. Find the project in the list and click the trash/bin icon on the right.
  3. Confirm the deletion. The project entry and all of its AI chats disappear immediately.

AI chats

You can remove individual conversations without affecting the rest of a project.

  1. Open the project’s code editor and switch to the AI Chat tab.
  2. In the chats list, click the Delete button next to the conversation you want to remove.
  3. Confirm the deletion to immediately clear the selected transcript.
